16 SIGNS YOU HAVE A SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT COMPLEX

When we were young it was kind of cute when we threw tantrums as toddlers, not getting what we wanted.  People would coo at us, maybe even pick us up and hold us, telling us in ooey-gooey tones that “you’ll get it later” or “you’ve got to wait a little while“.  Then our tears would be mopped up, our snotty little noses would be wiped, and we’d be placed gently to the ground again.
As we grew older, some of us would learn to wait our turn, be patient and show consideration for others.  Some of us, however, didn’t.  We’d continue throwing tantrums, but in more mature and sophisticated ways.  We’d continue to demand our fair share from others, but more subtly, and often without screaming or rolling around on the floor crying.  And last of all, we’d continue to expect special treatment just because … well, just because we’re us and it’s because what we deserve.  Naturally.
Well here’s the thing … you’re not so special.  And this article will explain why.

ME!  ME!  ME!

Linked with narcissism in the world of psychoanalysis, having a sense of entitlement can easily be mistaken as natural, and even healthy.  After all, don’t our parents and societies constantly tell us that “we’re unique”, “we’re special”, and “we’re number one”?
The truth is, having a sense of entitlement is a malignant form of Self-Love, because it often harms the people around us, which indirectly harms us in the long term.  In essence, a sense of entitlement is established and upheld by the belief that we are the center of the universe, and if the universe doesn’t meet our needs and desires, all hell will break loose.
This narcissistic mindset is often the result of failing to learn as children and young adults that we are not so special, and other people don’t merely exist to serve our needs and wants.
Some typical examples of narcissistic sense of entitlement behaviors, include the following:
  • Tim and Estelle are in a long term relationship.  Tim works full time to support Estelle and their child in a small two bedroom apartment.  Estelle spends a large portion of Tim’s money on dresses and fancy accessories.  When confronted, Estelle screams that she never wanted to live a “poor and lonely life”, and Tim never treats her anyway.
  • Antonio shows up unexpected at his mother’s house drunk one night expecting to receive a bed, and a meal.  When his mother refuses, telling him to call his girlfriend to pick him up, he argues with her and drives away in a drunken rage, not talking to her for the next 6 months.
  • Katie and Xiang are best friends.  But when Katie doesn’t respond to one of Xiang’s texts within half an hour, Xiang blocks her and doesn’t talk to her for the next week.  Xiang fights with Katie accusing her of “not caring” and “forgetting about her”.
  • Alex and Ben are a gay couple who are about to get married.  While Ben wants a humble and modest ceremony, Alex wants it to be extravagant and expensive.  Meeting with the wedding adviser while Ben is sick one day, Alex raises the budget from $5,000, to $20,000.  When Ben finds out he demands angrily why.  Alex says that he “deserves more than a measly little wedding” and guilt trips Ben into going through with it.
These are only a few illustrations, but there are countless stories out there that exemplify both passive and aggressive disregard for others.

SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT SYMPTOMS

By now you may be wondering: do I have a sense of entitlement?  Like anything in life there is a spectrum, and while you may not be a full-blown narcissist or have a borderline personality disorder, you may exhibit a certain level of selfishness that makes other people’s lives hard.  If you have a sense of entitlement, symptoms include the following:
1.  You impose unrealistic demands onto your family, children, friends, acquaintances, lovers, employees, and/or employers.
2.  You tend to feel sorry for yourself if things don’t work out the way you wanted (self-pity), and openly advertise this in melodramatic, attention-seeking ways.
3.  People have called you a “bully”, “manipulative”, “ruthless”, “egotistical”, “vain”, or a “liar”.
4.  You believe that you deserve happiness and go to great, sometimes extreme lengths to ensure that happens, often at the expense of others.
5.  You punish people when they don’t do what you want either passively (e.g. silent treatment, gossiping, spreading rumors) or aggressively (e.g. shouting, verbally/physically abusing).
6.  In order to “succeed” in life, you believe in going to any lengths.
7.  You constantly see other people as competition or “threats”.
8.  You tend to exhibit many double-standards in the way you behave/interact with other people, e.g. I can be late and forget my duties and commitments, but YOU can’t; I can treat myself, but YOU can’t; I can abuse or disrespect you, but YOU can’t to ME.
9.  You tend to take more than give in friendships and relationships.
10.  You tend to look out for yourself, your needs and desires more than anyone else almost 100% of the time.
11.  You have a hard time negotiating or compromising.
12.  You have a deep-seated conviction that you have priority and should always come first, even at the expense of stepping on others.
13.  People always seem to be offended or upset by what you do or say.
14.  You generally think that you are better, or more important, than other people and other people should see this and unquestioningly respect you.
15.  You crave admiration and adoration.
16.  You like to assert your dominance or superiority over other people, finding it second nature.
***
It’s important to remember that we all suffer from personality flaws.  While some of us are stingy or deeply insecure, others of us have sense of entitlement complexes.  If you tend to show this narcissistic trait, there are many ways to slowly work through it to improve the quality of your life, and the lives of others.  Examples include:
  • Developing more Self-Awareness.  Without being aware of what you think, feel and do, you won’t be able to progress very far.
  • Identifying your inner expectations about the world, as well as deep-seated beliefs and ideals.  Often a sense of entitlement stems from unhealthy or unrealistic perceptions that you may not even be aware of.
  • Work to accept life as it is without imposing your beliefs, ideals or expectations.  This includes practicing forgiveness, and allowing people to be the way they are naturally.
  • Concentrate on developing compassion and empathy.  Asking “how does this affect others?”, “how does he/she feel right now?”, “how would I feel if I was her/him?” helps to broaden the mind, and open it to new, and beneficial, ways of thinking.
  • Celebrate with other people, and celebrate other people.  Pay attention to the happiness and joy of others: happiness shared is happiness multiplied.  Also, being thankful for the people in your life allows you to place more importance in them, seeing how truly special they are.
  • Slowly work on cultivating true Self-Love, not the malignant kind.
Change won’t come overnight, but with dedication and willpower your life can take a permanent turn for the better.

As I see things today.

As I see things today.

The establishment in Ireland is pursuing policies that enrich the rich, while spinning the possibility that everybody can avail of the riches that will accrue.

Reality is, that, not everybody is in a position to make millions. If it was easy, then everyone would do it.

Most people just want to have a reasonable standard of living and will leave the making of the millions to the more money driven people.

On the other hand, the money driven people seem to think they can make their millions without availing of public services. The reality is, the taxes paid by citizens over the decades, have paid for the installation and maintenance of the infrastructure that allows any company to exist.

There seems to be an attitude that the companies exist in some kind of entrepreneurs utopia paid for and constructed by the companies. The reality is, taxes have paid for all this.

Companies seem to think they do not need to pay taxes to avail of the public infrastructure and services. They seem to think they are not obliged to pay for the next bundle of workers to be educated, or that the workers children have to go to school, and to hospitals etc etc.

They seem to think the state should provide all these services for free. From the imaginary money that other people pay in taxes.

Reality is, if their staff had to pay privately for schools and medical care, and parks, and water, and roads and paths, and sewage pipes, etc, then the companies would have to pay salaries much higher than they currently pay.

The current minister for social welfare is using tax money to pay for an advertising campaign to catch welfare fraud, while he ignores the fact that millionaire business owners and companies are committing massive tax frauds.

The government is spending more than the minister for social welfare, to finance a campaign to ensure a big company does not have to pay €13 billion in taxes.

I wonder would the minsters and the Taoiseach use their own money to pay for these campaigns. The answer is a big fat no.

Anyway, as I see it, the establishment are abusing the goodwill of the people, and as it gets worse, then, it is inevitable that people will eventually revolt. The history of the French Revolution shows this to be true.

So, finally, the establishment have created the political scenario that will force people into revolting, and, when that happens at the ballot box, and the wrong people are elected, then, the establishment can only blame themselves.

In the meantime, poor people will suffer unnecessarily, die younger than they need to, and end up in prisons, and the cycle of the rich misgoverning the poor will go on and on and on, and its happening all over the world.

Ireland, a Republic, me arse. We had a revolution and we replaced the British Establishment with an Irish establishment. So nothing really changed.

The world needs a huge statesman/woman to come forward and put some balance into the world.

A crisis in the Irish Government.

Working from last monday the 6th of February.

Clearly RTEs prime time was working on the McCabe story to have it ready to broadcast on Thursday night.

Also the work of the FineGael on the establishment of a commission of investigation was underway.

The prime time story was obviously in preparation for the government announcement.

I have no idea what stance RTE was planning to take.

On wednesday brendan howlin announced in the dail that he wanted the garda commissioner to step aside during the commission of investigation. His reasoning for this, was that he had been contacted by a trusted journalist.

On thursday he told the Dail he would make himself available to the commission, and the trusted journalist would make themselves available to the commission. Also the journalists that had spoken to the trusted journalist would make themselves available to the commission of investigation.

On Friday morning, Morning ireland radio presenter accused howlin of spreading tittle tattle.

Did Howlins announcement come as a response to the possibility of the primetime story?

In the meantime we knew nothing about the TUSLA issues with McCabe.

Today Sunday, Frances Fitzgerald told the #twip that she knew nothing about the TUSLA issue before the primetime broadcast on thursday night.

Then FF says that Jim OCallaghan told her about TUSLA on Tuesday.

Is it coincidence that Jim OCallaghan knew about the TUSLA issue before thursday?

Those of us watching this issue develop, know that there are huge implications emerging for government and government agencies, including the department of justice, the department of health, the gardai, TUSLA (the child protection agency), the HSE, and a few others yet to be named.
However I can,t help feeling the whole thing is a bit choreographed, and it is being choreographed by someone that is doing it in a very covert manner.

Somebody is pulling strings. Who are they and why are they doing it?

Some of us are aware that, to bring about real change, you need to get the issue addressed by RTE on prime time television and radio.

Maybe the RTE Prime Time team, should investigate “who” is choreographing the issues in the background, and why?

The mccabe TUSLA allegations have been hanging around journalists for years. Why is it only coming to a head now?

Clearly the only issue for McCabe and his family, now, is the amount of compensation the state will have to pay them. Good luck to them, they deserve whatever money they get, and hopefully, it makes their futures a better life than they have had in the past.

The ramifications for the state however, are far from over and far from being finalised or swept under the carpet.

The consequences will be felt in every government agency in the country for years to come.

Most likely people convicted on the evidence given by TUSLA will start proceedings to have their cases reviewed.

Gardai that have been involved in criminal activities blackening McCabes name and the other whistleblowers will no doubt have their cases appealed.

I will add to this as things evolve. So this blog will be developing over the next few days and weeks.

I predict Enda Kenny will sack the garda commissioner, then he will resign. Frances Fitzgerald will resign. Neither of them will seek re-election.

The vote of no confidence will be withdrawn on the basis that FineGael need to appoint a new leader who will then seek to be elected as Taoiseach. That process will need time for the new leader to negotiate with Fianna Fail and the independents.

If the above does not happen the no confidence motion takes its course and Fianna Fail will have a few rebels break rank and vote to bring the government down.

The issues will be put on the back burner and the new government will leave them there. McCabe will be paid off privately and quietly. Wilson will get a few quid. Taylor will get a payoff and a pension.

At this stage I have no more predictions.

There was no such thing as a famine in Ireland.

There was no such thing as a famine in Ireland.

To have a famine, a country must have no food.

At the time of the so called "Irish Famine", there was plenty of food, but the ruling classes, were sending it to Britain (for money).

They told the Irish it was for their own good.

The Irish were told the industrial revolutions workers were needed, to keep the majority, of the "people" fed and watered and defended.

Collateral damage of the day was, the lives of the Irish.

The ruling classes had no option but to keep the cattle being exported. It was for our own good.
See any similarities to today's preaching by the current ruling classes?

There was no money. The country was bankrupt. The money would dry up. Nobody would lend the country money. The sheeple needed to keep in mind the bigger picture.

All used during this crisis, and, all used during the so called "Famine".

Its all for our own good, in the long run.

And fuck those that have to pay with their lives or live a life of miserable poverty and die from lack of food and health care.

That is collateral damage for you, its just business, nothing personal.

So be thankful for all that your ruling masters allow you to have. Yis are a gang of ungrateful fuckers.

Don,t yis know how hard it is for the ruling classes to have to make decisions that decide whether you live or die.

May the ruling classes, be blessed, with, the wisdom of Solomon, have full bellies, and their children sleeping well, so that, their consciences may, keep the interests of the majority in their foremost thoughts.

Not a hope in hell the ruling classes can blame the British on this one. This one is one hundred percent Guaranteed Irish (with a bit of a push from their mates in the EU).

Ironically there are constants in both scenarios.

The rich got richer.

The poor got poorer.

The poor died from hunger, or froze to death, and lack of medical aid. The poor were evicted from their homes. The landlords were causing many problems. The bankers caused many problems.

Now do you see the similarities.

This press release from @HSHIreland makes for grim reading.

Although from my perspective it is standard practice for a minister to change tact after agreeing something.

I have no doubt that Simon Coveney was genuine when he met with the Apollo House Residents, but, his mind was changed after the officials got to him.
